A panic alarm is often raised quietly, in a vehicle or a room with the threat still in it. So one press is all it asks, and it makes no sound and shows nothing on your screen. It sends your live location to the people in your circle who are near enough to reach you, and they can mark that they have seen it, so you know someone is on the way. If the people you need cannot be reached by a notification, a paid plan reaches them by SMS.
